(Olomouc, February 12, 2024) A modern student dormitory project designed by Perspektiv studio will be built in the vicinity of the Sokol sports complex, not far from the main campus of Palacký University and within easy reach of the historic center of Olomouc and city parks. The project is being developed by the Redstone group, which drew inspiration from student accommodation facilities in the United Kingdom (Oxford, Cambridge) and Germany. It will offer future residents accommodation in a quiet, green environment with a walk-through courtyard and a large underground car park. The ground floor of the buildings will house all the necessary services, such as study rooms, a library, community and cultural spaces, and a fitness center. The project will enhance Olomouc's prestige as a university city.
"Palacký University is one of the three most prestigious Czech universities and one of the 1,000 best in the world. It is home to a number of renowned scientists and excellent students from the Czech Republic and abroad, for whom it is important to find quality accommodation in the city. Every year, a large number of international exchanges take place in Olomouc as part of the Erasmus program and various scientific internships. That is why we believe that our student dormitory project meets the demand, as it will offer quality housing in a perfect location with a wide range of uses and services. Increasing the capacity of student rooms is a logical step in response to limited supply," says Redstone Group spokesperson Petr Hlávka.
"In the design of the buildings, we emphasized the connection between modern architecture and local history through elements of Baroque fortification in the complex. The buildings are given a dynamic feel by spacious balconies, which naturally connect the interior with the exterior and offer residents increased comfort. The brick cladding emphasizes not only the authenticity of the buildings, but also their uniqueness and character," describes architect Ján Antal from the Perspektiv studio.
It will be an accessible area with a modern, environmentally friendly student campus that will benefit the city in terms of urban planning. It will naturally connect to the city boulevard. The developer has recently been fine-tuning the technical parameters of the project, and the project documentation will be discussed in the coming months.
